Traveling With Children

Traveling on an airline with small kids can be the stuff that nightmares are made of for parents and every other passenger on the plane. There are some things that you can do, however, to make it a much more pleasant experience for you and the other passengers on the plane.
Bring books with you when you are flying on an airplane with small children. Small children will love the storybook, but older kids might like a book that gives them something to do such as puzzle books or activity books. Coloring books are also a great choice for some time on an airplane.
If you have a DVD player that you can bring on the plane, bring it. This can occupy your child for hours. And it is a good choice for all ages of children. Just pop in a movie and you have a couple of hours of entertainment for the trip. If you bring enough DVDs with you a long flight will not seem so long.
Make sure that you have snacks and drinks for the kids on the flight as well. When your child is hungry or thirsty they are more likely to be a little rowdy during the flight. Make sure that you have juice and snacks to meet all of the demands that your kids might have on the flight.
Babies might have a hard time during the landing and takeoff parts of the flight. Their ears are very sensitive to the pressure in the cabin. A bottle or breastfeeding during these parts of the trip might be able to relieve some of the pressure on the baby’s ears.
Traveling with your children doesn’t have to be a nightmare if you plan well and have enough with you to keep them entertained during the flight. A long flight will require a bit more planning than a shorter one, of course, but the same principles apply.
Get the kids involved in planning the cheap travel and what they might like to take on the plane with them. Remind them that the flight will take a long time so they should bring plenty to do on the travel. Children have a difficult time judging how long the trip might actually be. Try it out in advance so they know how long a couple of hours on a plane might be.
Take a special trip to the store to find all of the books and DVDs that you will bring on the plane trip with you. When the children are involved in finding the materials for the journey, they will be more likely to use them and enjoy them on the plane.
The excitement of the trip might make your kids a little wound up on the plane ride so be prepared to try and settle them into their seats. Remember it is a new adventure for them and one that they don’t get a chance to do very often. Try to see the trip from their eyes and you will be able to understand their excitement.
