Ski

The 147 km of ski slope in Solden – one of the most important tourist areas dedicated to winter sports, in Tyrol in Austria – have plenty of ski lift installations, which can carry 68,000 people per hour. The ski season starts in November and lasts until May, a true “polar day” only for ski opportunities. Those who worship the mountain and the snow for the beauty of the landscape, the clear air and the opportunity to practice ski and other winter sports, are welcome to Solden. It is no use mentioning the young people, eager to learn how to slide on snow, which will glow of happiness after a day spent on the ski slope, in a trip, or making snowmen.

Within the borders of Austria, in Tirol, Otztal is disclosing to you all its splendour. From small picturesque mountain towns, whose population is working, directly or indirectly in the tourism industry, to the ski slopes that get to 3250 m above the sea level, to the routes for summer hiking, pleasure is guaranteed.

An Ancient Traveller

History says that a couple from Nurnberg discovered in 1991 on a ski travel, near Tisenjoches a body frozen. Archaeologists called to date it were stunned at what they found. The man lived with approximately 4000 years BC. Later, he became famous, receiving the name „Otzi”, after the name of the Valley where there are many important modern ski resorts.
Solden is one of the most important regions dedicated to ski and other winter sports in Austria. It is a meeting place for the champions, so there are excellent ski facilities there. Visit BIG 3 – the names under which are known the three huge platforms – Gaislachkogl (3,058 m), Tiefenbachkogl (3,250 m) Schwarze Schneid (3,340 m) – where you can ski on special slopes, marked with blue, red, black, according to the three degrees of difficulty possible.

A Hot Valley

Right in the centre of the valley of Oezt surrounded by granite bodies of the mountain peaks, at 15 km from Solden, there is Langenfeld that receives its visitors with a warm hug. You can see there a landscape with large, snowy meadows, hidden between the giants of Otztal and the Stubai Alps. Moreover, in the centre, there is Aqua Dom, an elegant thermal resort, ideal for spending a relaxing day in the open. Ski areas around the town of Kaprun are most important in Austria. Every year they attract thousands of ski lovers to this town.

Irrespective if they are young or old, beginners or professionals, ski lovers will be all delighted at these offers.

Every day you can use another ski area:

• The Kitzsteinhorn glacier area

• Maiskogel & Schaufelberg

• Schmittenhöhe & Areit

• Lechnerberg

200 km of tracks prepared especially for Nordic Skiing
