Safety for You and Your Family

With summer upon us, many people are taking some time out to go on vacation. Mundane chores and dull business meetings give way to summer travel and fun. When we travel for summer vacation we need to be sure that we remember to travel safely.
Summer is a fun time and we all love the freedom vacation and summer travel brings. For children summer travel means they are free from babysitter and school. They can take some time out and spend it with their families and friends.
Summer travel for the nine to five workers brings time to relax and unwind. Who doesn’t love not having to go to work for a few days or for a few weeks? When we travel during the summer and hit the road there is relaxation and freedom.
Since summer travel can take you to theme parks, aquariums, beaches or even other countries, it is important to keep travel safety in mind. Travel safety should be a priority when planning a vacation so that your trips will not only be relaxing and fun but safe.
The best part about summertime is that it is family time. With the rigors of everyday life, and the increasing stress of everyday living, summer is the one time of year where you can put the daily stressors aside and let your hair down. Families can reconnect with each other in a way that they might not be able to do while they are living day to day, paying bills, taking children to school and activities, going grocery shopping and maintaining a house.
One should always keep the safety of yourself and your family in mind but during summer travel it is even more important. Summer travel can only be enjoyable and relaxing if you think about your family’s safety ahead of time. You should keep in mind what medicines you or your child may need during your vacation and know that unexpected sickness and illnesses can happen as well.
The safety of your children is very important during summer travel. You should be sure that you take care of your child’s safety concerns before you travel. If traveling by car, know that a child that is less than a year old or weights under twenty pounds will not be safe unless they are placed in an infant car seat and strapped in well. If a child is over one year old they can be placed in a car seat that faces the front of the car when you travel.
When you travel for the summer it is also important to bring along a first aid kit. You can create your own summer travel safety first aid kit by bringing along Band-Aids, Tylenol, Neosporin and some bite relief. You may also want to bring along Betadine and an antibiotic cream or ointment.
The first aid kit should contain your child’s medical history. You should have on hand any information about any medications your child is taking and information about any allergies they might have. You can keep this information in your wallet as well. It is important to keep this information handy so you can find it when you need it.
